Jacob is an artist based in Hobart who works in installation, video, sculpture, painting and print. He is interested in the essential existence an art work as an object— its ‘objecthood’ – and explores dynamics such as excess and density, pattern and growth and rotation and duration.
In 2011, Jacob graduated with a Masters of Fine Arts from the University of Tasmania, Hobart where he is now completing his PhD. Exhibitions include Systematic, Plimsoll Gallery (2018) and Beyond the field (still), Contemporary Art Tasmania (2018). He has been awarded an Australia Council Grant for Emerging Artists (2013), and commissioned to create new work by Dark Mofo, Ten Days on the Island and Arts Tasmania.
