LIBERTY LOOP

LIBERTY LOOP: Films of The People

What does 'liberty' mean to you?

Liberty Loop is a special program of your creative responses to ‘liberty’. Community, film-makers and creatives have contributed to the program and we'll be launching it on Hobart’s big screen, The Loop: A Digital Art Platform for Hobart. Liberty Loop is part of a series of Public Programs that will run alongside the Hobart Current: Liberty exhibition.

We have had a terrific response from the film community who have responded to the theme of ‘liberty’ with over 49+ contributions which amounts to approx. 1.5hrs of filming.
The content represents a great cross-section from the digital community which includes animation, soundscapes, poetry, music videos, artist vlogs, community choirs and a suite of creative projects initiated whilst in lockdown.

WHY LIBERTY?

Creative Director of Hobart Current 2021, Rosie Dennis, has provided LIBERTY as a provocation to ten artists as part of the Hobart Current exhibition in March 2021.

"This theme can be interpreted globally and locally, as celebrating the nation as a whole or a neighbourhood. I’m interested in sparking a fuller conversation about who chooses freedom for whom, in what space and during what time”.
