Uncle Wes Marne is Bigambul man and community elder who has lived in Mt Druitt, Sydney for the past 45 years.
When he was 9 years old, the government walked his family off tribal lands from the Stanthorpe Hills to Deadbird Mission, Queensland. At 97, he is committed to sharing the traditional knowledge of his grandfather’s creation and dreaming stories, and his personal experiences of his life as an Aboriginal man over the last century. Uncle Wes comes from a long line of storytellers. His show Fire Bucket premiered at the 2016 Sydney Festival and played to sell out audiences. It has subsequently toured to Melbourne and other parts of NSW.
