Mary Scott

Mary Scott is a visual artist and writer who works in a range of settings, genres, and media. She is dedicated to supporting artists and sharing knowledge about the arts through her roles in teaching, on boards, and in advisory capacities. Her artwork has been exhibited and collected both nationally and internationally.

In recent years, Scott's work has been primarily site-responsive, with an interest in activating non-gallery settings and the experience of being inside contexts where the intersection of history and contemporary activities coexist, as well as considering the physical feel and texture of a space when creating work. She chooses to create site-responsive work as it introduces new challenges for both conceptualising and creating in relation to the art-site connection. She works across images, objects, words, sounds, and projections. Drawing, though, has always appealed to her because of its immediacy, its adaptability in presentation, and use of a range of media.
