Complementing the inaugural Hobart Current: Liberty, the City of Hobart hosted a program of diverse community activities, providing opportunities to discover and explore the notion of ‘liberty’ .
Liberty is defined the freedom to live as you wish or go where you want. It is the freedom from control, restriction, hampering conditions, freedom from captivity, confinement, physical restraint.
How fitting that we reflected on liberty as a theme as we observe the impacts that this pandemic has had on the community socially, mentally, physically and spiritually.
The City of Hobart recognises that this has been an extremely challenging time for everyone and that the creative sector has been particularly hard hit. One way for the City to show their support was by rolling out numerous creative platforms in our city that were made available to increase the surface area of the ‘liberty’ provocation within Hobart.
